Whether you want to be a career sales representative or move onto another area after having worked in sales for a period of time, Novartis has a programme and support network that helps you realise your goals. Novartis treats you as an individual and takes your development very seriously. We all work closely with our managers to determine the next step in our career.

Novartis even has a programme in place to help those who are not sure which direction they would like to go. Experienced sale representatives work closely with less experienced associates in the field force, acting as mentors and coaches. These experienced members of the team are rewarded for their long term efforts and are truly valued by the company. In short, Novartis is a fabulous company to work for.

For me, it’s the endless development opportunities. When I first started at Novartis, I went through a very thorough induction program and received clear direction and support throughout my first 6-12months. Novartis also implements the Situational Self Leadership program, which encourages managers to give each person the support and direction they require, depending on their personality style and experience.

MyCareerPath is another unique program that links each person’s development to their career goals, and offers opportunities for secondments - a ‘try before you buy’ approach if you like. And they also encourage that each person use their own style and personality when selling the different Novartis products, rather than adopting the “robotic” sales approach. Unlike a lot of other companies, Novartis really puts their money where their mouth is when it comes to developing their people.”
